APL Equipment Coordinator, Specialized in Norfolk, Virginia

This position will be responsible to:

  • Specialized equipment reconciliation. (tracking and tracing of in transit equipment to capture and ensure the use of equipment before becoming idle)

  • Dispatch empty stock feed and evacuation that are not needed to avoid extra cost

  • Monitor utilization versus stock policy versus availability to ensure appropriate equipment levels for booking requirements

  • Ensure bookings are in place at the correct depot/terminal (including addressing booking confirmation pool code if discrepancy)

  • Maintain high degree of communication with Port Ops, M&R, & Trade.

  • Check on Genset availability and work with Specialized booking team to see what bookings can be released without Gensets increasing accepted exports.

  • Communicate with Managers and Specialized desk issues/opportunities/stock feed and over balance locations.

  • Update eContainer with correct empty return locations

  • Coordinate booking acceptance and approval of bookings over forecasted amounts

  • Solve Customer’s problems related to Export/Import Shipment

  • Inform customers of the applicable policies and rules that affect the shipment

  • Observe all company and department rules, requests, and procedures.

  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

    Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High Diploma or GED required..

  • Ability to multi-task and quickly compile information from disparate sources of information.

  • Ability to work staggered hours as needed for departmental coverage.

  • Ability to work with other departments in order to accomplish company goals

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Excellent phone etiquette and proven customer service abilities.

  • Ability to work independently; multi-task oriented: work well in a team environment and be able to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills to include all Microsoft applications (excel, outlook, word, Internet Explorer) is required.

  • Must be availble to work 11am-8pm, Monday thru Friday

  • Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of Equipment Control preferred.

  • Knowledge of the world geography is preferred.
