Leidos COTS Engineer in CHESAPEAKE, Virginia


Job Summary:

Looking for a systems engineer to oversee maintenance planning, Commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) and Obsolescence program, and the DMSMS program. Determine Form Fit Function Replacements, mitigations, and other issues while working closely with the OEM.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the DMSMS program for the SQQ89 SONAR System to cover obsolescence issues

  • Perform reliability analysis to determine life time buy quantities

  • Evaluate alternative parts for End-of-Life (EOL) items and develop a validation and verification for testing

  • Determine supportability for COTS parts that will be utilized for over ten years

  • Track EOL items and provide vendor surveys for EOL

  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for sparing

  • Work within the IPT on replacement part

  • Develop obsolescence mitigations

  • Support the OEM in obsolescence mitigations

Basic Qualifications:

Requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with DMSMS.

Knowledge of reliability.

Ability to write clearly.

Proven work experience with obsolescence mitigations and COTS units.

Ability to read engineering and technical drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Navy experience with SQQ89 SONAR or Radars.

Understanding of Navy provisioning and logistics.

Knowledge of Circuit cards. Knowledge of product lift cycles.
